Get to Know Us

Meghan and Jordan here, co-founders and executives of Ophelia Productions.  The story of OP starts back in 2019 when we met as opera undergrads at the Manhattan School of Music, and bonded over a shared love of museums, all things spooky, and freshly baked bread.  During spring break in 2021, Jordan hopped on a plane to London where Meg had moved to study at the Royal College of Music. We spent a week wandering the V&A and catching shows in the theater district.  One rainy morning, we were  sharing pastries at a cafe and started talking about ideas for performances we would create in the very distant future - shows we would write, design, or direct once our singing careers were kaput in thirty years or so.  While the conversation ended with a delicious scone and wistful “one day’s”, we held on to our ideas.  In December of 2023, creatively burnt out from a long season of masters applications and auditions, we had a Hail-Mary meeting to try and resuscitate some career excitement.  We each came up with one “dream” project we’d love to work on in the next few years - revisiting the London conversation.  After a long pause, we couldn’t remember any of our original reasons why one day couldn’t start that day.  We believed in our ideas, in our skill as performers, and most importantly - in each other.  And so on a frigid winter day over a three hour facetime, Ophelia Productions was born.
